PAUSE is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that focuses on enhancing the ways Communities of Color experience death, dying, and grief. We are seeking a facilitator to host a 2.5 hour workshop for the Starlight Business Development Residency, a 12-month program for BIPOC entrepreneurs working in the grief and end-of-life industry.
Date and time of session: Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 9:00am to 12:00pm
Location: Virtual (zoom)
Compensation: $1,000.00
Responsibilities: (1) Facilitate one 2.5 hour module session for the Starlight Business Development Residency during the month of April, (2) provide any materials needed for participants, (3) provide prep and follow-up for the module session, and (4) engage with the Starlight team in planning and organizing Module sessions.
Description of module topic: Understanding your company’s customers can provide valuable insight into what the community’s needs are and how your business can meet those needs. We intend for this module to cover how our cohort can engage with the communities they currently work with - to inform their offerings, their strategic planning, and their pricing.
Topics include: getting to know your audience, how to identify your target customer, surveying, market research
Strengths and preferred skills
Strong communication and collaborative skills that reflect an understanding of how to balance the needs of multiple collaborating parties.
Experience working with and being in community with folks of diverse backgrounds, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, and lived experiences.
Commitment to developing content and presentations that serve folks of diverse backgrounds, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, and lived experiences.
Demonstrated success engaging group activities, presentations, or workshops.

Description of module topic: This module will focus on financial sustainability. In order for businesses to thrive and be sustainable, it is important to understand how your business (and other businesses in the field) approach pricing/remuneration, debt management, and preventing financial crises.
Topics include: tools for financial sustainability, debt management, budgeting

This module will discuss how effective communications and content creation can be an asset to building your brand, voice, and reputation as a thought leader.
