Erika Lim

Erika Lim is a death doula and occupational therapist. While she finds end of life a ripe time for unearthing love, meaning, and peace, she is most fascinated by the rich learnings of the life and death cycles that happen in our everyday life. She works to bridge the communication gap between generations of loved ones regarding life and death while still respecting the values and wisdom instilled by our elders.

Erika completed her Masters of Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2018 and became a certified death midwife from Sacred Crossings Institute for Conscious Dying in 2020. She is currently completing the Ablon/Hilot Filipino Healing Arts Program at the Kailukuan School of Indigenous Science and plans to utilize this intuitive knowledge and wisdom in supporting those in her community and her work.

Dig A Little Deeper: Unearthing Forgotten Ancestral Traditions

Where do we come from? Together, we will explore story, lore, superstitions and the inner wisdom we have of our own individual ancestral traditions.

Ablon / Hilot - Traditional Filipino Bodywork

Ablon, also called Hilot, is a traditional Filipino hands on body work focused on restoring balance and alignment to the physical, mental, spiritual, and energetic planes. 10 minute seated Ablon sessions will be offered. Please sign up at Erika Lim's table during the tabling portion of the event to reserve a spot.

What do you hope people get from working with you or interacting with your services?

Simply, I hope people from all cultures and backgrounds can feel autonomous, listened deeply to, respected, curious, and supported as they and their chosen families walk into the unknown together.

What would you say to someone who is nervous about attending events about death or grief?

Death and grief are great teachers and when gathered in community, can open parts of ourselves that desire to be seen, explored, nurtured, and cared for. Death is the most natural part of life. I invite you to dig into what you are curious about regarding death and grief and bring that into community. We welcome it and are ready to hold space for it.

If someone meets you at the resource fair - what's a question you invite them to ask you?

Ask me, “Hey, what’s hilot?” or  “How does your culture and upbringing affect how you doula?
